Enhancing Interaction in Live Online Classes

25th January 2021

Presented by Dr Julie Byrne, EDTL Academic Lead  and Assistant Professor in Online Education and Development at Trinity College Dublin.

Building vibrant live online classes through engagement and interaction is an essential aspect of our teaching practice and a key concern of educators in an era of remote and online learning. However, interaction is not simply a matter for educators, it is a shared endeavour which requires co-production between educators and students. Student views on live online interaction are illuminating, offering insights which can shape teaching practice. This webinar, based on a project funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, will share the views of students on what works to enhance interaction in live online classes. The webinar covers topics such as feedback and breakout groups and offers some tips on what educators can do to help students feel comfortable and confident interacting in the live online class.
