1. Introduction to Student IT
Featuring resources such as information on how to reset your UCC SIT password and how to get in touch with UCC IT support, this webpage is a great starting point for any IT-related concerns for students. You will also be able to get more information on the UCC Laptop Loan Scheme along with advice for purchasing your own laptop for college.

2. Online Services
This is a one-stop-shop for all of the online services you will be using day-to-day whilst in UCC. Whether it is the suite of Google tools that UCC students have access to or the Virtual Learning Environment, Canvas, here you will be able to see all the services available to you along with any other relevant resources.

3. Canvas Training
Canvas is UCC’s Virtual Learning Environment, and most students will spend a great deal of time using it. Because of this, it is well worth looking through the resources assembled by UCC to help you master your VLE.

4. UCC IT Training for Students
UCC offers numerous forms of training for students who wish to improve their IT skillset. Microsoft’s Learning Pathways will help you get to grips with Microsoft Office, Online ICDL Training allows you to study for the ICDL exam through Canvas and Student Success Zone contains advice on finance management and academic writing amongst other essential skills.

5. UCC Library
The Boole Library’s homepage provides numerous services for students, ranging from booking group study rooms to online access for exam papers. The Ask Us service will answer FAQs and provide live chat to respond to your queries while you are on the website. The Library’s Youtube channel Boole Bites provides short informational videos on using the Library.

Library Learning Resources are self-directed Canvas modules provided by UCC Library offering teaching to all UCC students on information searching and the Library resources. You can follow these up with live Q&As with a staff member if you have any questions on the content.

UCC Library staff are available online, to help you with your assignments and research or any other queries you may have. If you are a Postgraduate student and need help with developing a search strategy, doing a literature or systematic review, please contact the relevant Liaison Librarian here.

Scan and Deliver is a free electronic document delivery service from UCC Library. Submit a request and we’ll scan a book chapter or a journal article and deliver it to you electronically.

You are welcome to browse and borrow items from the libraries lending collections, however if you are not in a position to browse you can use the Click & Collect service. This service allows you to place online requests for print books held in the library. Submit a request here and we will have your books ready for collection.


If you want to go into the Library, Brookfield and Boole Libraries are now operating a seat booking system. Access to the Library is limited so if you want to study at one of the designated reading desks for a period of time, you must book a seat.

6. Ask UCC
Ask UCC allows students to find solutions to whatever query they have about their studies at UCC. Whether it be a question about accessing your exam timetable online to changing module registration, you are almost certain to find what you are looking for here.

7. Skills Centre
UCC Skills Centre provides a dedicated active learning space for the enhancement of a student’s study and writing skills. They offer customised workshops, sessions and online resources for UCC students in order to improve their skills in a variety of areas applicable to their academic life.

8. Disability Support Services
UCC’s DSS provides numerous services to students which are registered with the service. These include dedicated study spaces in the Boole Library and various academic supports. For a full list of services applicable to you, you should contact your relevant advisor.

9. Printing Services
UCC uses Uprint for student printing, allowing you to send documents from any of your devices to any printer on campus (a list of available printers can be accessed here). You will need to top-up your printing balance through the aforementioned Uprint portal in order to avail of printing services. Further information on student printing services can be found here.

10. Software for Students
UCC has agreements in place with several different software vendors to allow students free access to their products during their time in UCC. These include F-Secure antivirus, Microsoft Office 365 and referencing software. A full list of available software for students along with further information can be found here.

11. SIT Student Support
SIT offer phone support for students by calling 021 4902120 and selection option 2. The helpline is open 08:30 to 21:00 Monday – Friday and 10:00 – 17:00 Saturday – Sunday and is great if you have an urgent query which you can’t solve using the above resources.

12. Canvas Help
Canvas offers 24-hour Canvas chat support, run by Canvas, which will connect you with a Canvas expert to help solve you Canvas-related question. This can be accessed by clicking ‘Chat to Canvas Support (Student)’ through Help within Canvas.
