Meet the new EDTL Student Interns
It has been all change on the EDTL Student Intern front, with several new faces since the our last newsletter. Read on to learn more about the EDTL interns you will definitely be hearing a lot from over the next few months.
As the new academic years comes into view, there is all change on the EDTL Student Intern front. The role of EDTL Student Intern is to provide the student voice on the topic of student education, and contributing to EDTL resources in both a University-level and national level format. Over the summer we have said goodbye to some of our wonderful EDTL student interns who have contributed to much to the student voice aspect of the EDTL project in the last year. Whether they are continuing their education or entering the world of work – the resources created and perspectives offered by these students since last summer has had tangible impact. There are plenty of new faces on the student intern team on both a university and IUA level, so read on to discover a bit more about students you will definitely be hearing a lot from over the next few months.
Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich – IUA EDTL Student Intern
Míde is a Student Associate Intern for Enhancing Digital Capacity in Teaching and Learning in Irish Universities. A Conamara native, she is a fluent Irish speaker and is currently in final year studying Law with Social Justice in University College Dublin. During her time in UCD she has been active in UCD Students’ Union as Oifigeach na Gaeilge and Law College Officer.
She is a strong believer in the importance of the student voice in decision-making in Irish universities, with a particular interest in the concept of Students as Partners in teaching and learning.
Fernandos Ongolly – IUA EDTL Student Intern
Fernandos is a PhD student at UCD Michael Smurfit Business School. He has a background in anthropology with lots of experience in qualitative research. He has interests in technological innovation specifically design thinking and user experience research.
Outside academic work, he is the auditor/chairperson of the UCD PhD Society.
Chris Abraham – MU EDTL Student Intern
Chris is currently studying Electronic Engineering at Maynooth University. He is passionate in the wellbeing of students, especially in regards to academic issues. He was part of a student led team in secondary school that conducted talks and presentations on topics such as mental health, student wellbeing, sexual identity and racism.
He wishes to empower students to give their opinions on how to improve digital learning for themselves. He enjoys playing badminton and listening to music in his free time.
Jasmine Ryan – UL EDTL Student Intern
Jasmine Ryan is a final year student in UL studying Politics and International Relations with Philosophy. In her time at UL, she has been heavily involved in student engagement and representation as part of her role as class representative, UL Experience Chair, student leader, and academic advocate.
She wishes to pursue a graduate degree in Public Policy and later a career in government. Outside of college, she enjoys rollerskating, writing, and creative pursuits.
