Meet our new interns!

Ruairi O’Gallchoir
IUA EDTL Student Intern
Ruairi recently graduated from Computer Science and will be continuing his studies this year with a MSc in Data Science and Analytics at UCC. As someone who has experienced first hand the benefits that technology and education can provide when combined, Ruairi is really looking forward to contributing to the work of the EDTL team.

Catherine Dawson
UCC EDTL Student Intern
Catherine graduated from UCC with a BSc in Applied Mathematics and Physics and after spending a year in the UCC Students’ Union as VP for Education, she is going back to do a MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Self-Learning Systems.

Aoibhinn Nic Giolla Mhartain
UCD EDTL Student Intern
Aoibhinn is in final year Law with Social Justice in UCD. She has an interest in human rights law and is hoping to go into that line of work after college. Outside of college she spends most of her free time playing Gaelic Football and coaching the underage teams in her area.

Laura Anne Scanlon
DCU EDTL Student Intern
Laura Anne Scanlon has recently completed a BSc in Multimedia from Dublin City University. She will begin a MSc in Digital Marketing with DCU, later this year. Laura Anne has worked as an ambassador with DCU Access to help encourage young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to progress onto third level education. She most recently became a Washington Ireland Program 2020 class member and completed a placement with the Embassy of Ireland, Washington DC.

Lauren Muldowney
NUIG Student Intern
Lauren is the incoming local NUIG student associate intern for the EDTL project. Originally from Kildare, she is currently in her fourth year studying Medicine at NUI Galway. Her early career interests are varied and include Public Health and Neurology. Her other interests include equality in education and hopes to contribute meaningfully to improving the educational experiences of students at Irish universities. Her free time is mostly spent swimming in the sea, listening to podcasts and spending time with friends and family.

Katharina Kurz
MU EDTL Student Intern
Kathi is an international postgraduate anthropology and philosophy student from Austria. She recently finished her BA in Maynooth University and continues to do her Master’s in anthropology. Her main area of research, which is also where her passion lies, is the field of restorative practice and restorative justice.
As an international student who knows how it is to be part to a minority-group she is committed to paying special attention to the diversity of student voices and amplify those that might easily be overheard.

Michaela Waters
MU EDTL Student Intern
Michaela is currently studying Business and Accounting in Maynooth University. She is highly interested in student representation and has been an Academic Representative for her relevant subjects every year while studying. She is active in Maynooth’s Student’s Union and enjoys volunteering at events. She was a Social Sciences Senator in Student Senate 2019-2020, discussing academic issues, contributing to motions, and voting on mandates which the Student’s Union is legally required to follow. Michaela also attended USI’s Congress 2020.
